# Grindelwald

Grindelwald is considered to be one of Switzerland’s most popular travel destinations. The Gletscherdorf resort makes for an ideal starting point for excursions across the Jungfrau region as well as the entire Bernese Oberland. What’s more, from Grindelwald you’ll be able to enjoy direct views of the imposing Eiger north face.
While strolling through this village with its traditional wooden houses, you’ll feel the presence of the Eiger wherever you go: as many of the village’s hotels, restaurants and cafés are named after the famous mountain. And this should come as no surprise, since the backdrop of the Swiss Alps really is quite spectacular here. Discover the wild glacier canyon and its “spiderweb” – a walkable net stretched across the width of the canyon that offers visitors a unique perspective. Or enjoy the mountain air on the beautiful Bussalp. The «Big Pintenfritz», one of the longest toboggan runs in Europe, passes through here.
The First aerial cableway in Grindelwald takes you up to the First, a mountain that offers plenty of adventure. Venture onto the Cliff Walk to the First View vantage platform for panoramic views of the Bernese Alps. With the First Flyer or First Glider, passengers hurtle or glide through the air, supported by steel cables. Alternatively: you can speed down into the valley on a mountain cart or scooter bike – or in winter with a snowboard or skis. The hike to the jewel of the Alps, the Bachalpsee, is absolutely recommended.
