# La Plagne

Since the beginning of the 1960s, the ski area of La Plagne has grown steadily with new resorts. The original Plagne Centre was succeeded by Aime La Plagne, followed by the other high-altitude resorts Plagne Village, Plagne 1800, Plagne Bellecôte and Belle Plagne. La Plagne offers 225 kilometres of slopes. La Plagne has been known worldwide since the 1992 Winter Olympics at the latest. At that time, the La Plagne ski resort was built especially for the bobsled and bobsleigh competitions and is the first artificial slope in France. In addition to international competitions, the bobsleigh track in La Plagne is now also available to skiers who want to risk an icy descent. The total of 130 slopes offers beginners ideal green and blue training slopes, also in the higher areas and even from the summit of Roche de Mio at an altitude of 2,700 metres. For more experienced skiers, the Bellecôte glacier areas are particularly suitable. Numerous demanding red and black pistes offer plenty of recreation. The longest descent of the ski resort from the Bellecôte glacier down to Montchavin with a total of 15 kilometres and the red descent Mont de la Guerre to Champagny la Vanoise stand out.
