# Neuquen

Neuquén is a city and municipality located in the Argentine Patagonia. Administratively, it is the capital of the province of Neuquén and head of the Confluencia department. It is the youngest provincial capital of the country, and since 1991, the most populated city in the Argentine Patagonia. It occupies the strip of land to the west of the confluence of the Neuquén and Limay rivers that give rise to the Negro River, so it is part of the micro-region of the Alto Valle del Río Negro. Together with the cities of Cipolletti (Río Negro), Plottier, Centenario and Senillosa (Neuquén), it forms the Neuquén Metropolitan Area.
