# Alpe d’Huez

At an altitude of 1,860 metres right at the heart of the skiing area of the same name is one of the most popular winter sports resorts in France: Alpe d’Huez. Famous also as the most well-known stage of the Tour de France and since the Olympic Games were held in Grenoble in 1968, Alpe d’Huez has lately become a skiing holiday destination for skiers from all over the world. Moreover, since it is at the heart of the whole skiing area within the Grandes Rousses massif, Alpe d’Huez links the five smaller, lower lying resorts of Huez Village, Auris-en-Oisans, Villard-Reculas, Oz-en-Oisans and Vaujany with each other. Alpe d’Huez owes its position as one of the most popular winter sports resorts in the world to the wealth of advantages of the area. The very reliable snow conditions on the sunny pistes, the adventure-filled runs on deep powder snow and exciting snow parks, together with the cosily traditional atmosphere of the modern ski resort offer guests a wide range of leisure activities. The view from the panoramic terrace of the Pic Blanc glacier, which overlooks almost one fifth of French national territory, is a sight you will never forget.
