# Lago Nahuel Huapi

Lake Nahuel Huapi is a lake of glacial origin in Argentine Patagonia. It is shared by the Argentine provinces of Neuquén and Río Negro, and is mostly surrounded by the national park of the same name.

It is located at an altitude of 764 m above sea level. It stands out for its depth (464 m maximum depth) and its eight branches or branches: Campanario, de la Tristeza, Blest, Machete, del Rincón, Última Esperanza, Angostura and Huemul. It is related to other less extensive lakes, such as the Gutiérrez, Moreno, Espejo and Correntoso. It is fed by thaws and is the source of the Limay River. It has several islands, the largest and most important for its tourist activity is Victoria Island.
Its intense blue color, its islands, and the landscape that surrounds it, make it one of the most attractive places in southern Argentina and a magnet for national and international tourism, thus cementing a strong population growth in its riverside cities.
