# Lofer

The municipality of Lofer in Salzburg's Saalachtal Valley has approximately 2,000 inhabitants and is located in the northern Pinzgau region. With the Almenwelt Lofer resort, featuring 10 cable cars and lifts and 46 kilometers of slopes, the resort is a favorite with winter sports enthusiasts and families.

Lofer is located just under an hour's drive from the Mozart city of Salzburg. Although it is the smallest in area, it is also the most populous of the four villages in the Salzburg Saalachtal. The resort is surrounded by an impressive mountain panorama: the Lofer and Reither Steinberge mountains, as well as the foothills of the Chiemgau Alps. This mountain world invites you to explore – by ski and snowboard in winter, and on foot or by bike in summer.
The Almenwelt Lofer is in summer A paradise for hikers, bikers, and families! The new 8-seater Almbahn I cable car takes you from the town center, climbing 630 meters to Loderbichl at 1,000 meters—directly to the starting point of the "Auf die Alm" adventure hiking trail with 12 stations along impressive waterfalls. The 6-seater Almbahn II continues up to lofty heights, directly into the Almenwelt Lofer at 1,350 meters—here, the starting point of seven circular hiking trails with magnificent panoramic peaks.
Bikers use the Almbahn cable cars as a low-impact ascent aid and can connect to bike routes to Waidring/Steinplatte, the Winklmoosalm, and Unken/Heutal.
Winter sports enthusiasts will find 10 cable cars and lifts and 46 kilometers of slopes at Almenwelt Lofer . In recent years, the ski area has received top marks for family friendliness in ski resort tests. For kids, there's a 140-meter-long, covered "magic carpet" (conveyor belt) and the "Almenwelt circular hiking trail." This is also where the high-altitude cross -country ski trail is located, which runs four kilometers through the enchanting Almenwelt area. For freeriders and boarders, the " Lofi FUNLINE" offers entertaining adventure rides along the Family Express lift.
