# Río Grande

Rio Grande is a city and municipality located in the province of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands belonging to the territory of the Republic of Argentina, located on the northeast coast of the island of Tierra del Fuego on the Argentine Sea, whose southern tributary of the Atlantic Ocean is called the Rio Grande, which is why the city takes its name. The climate is moderate cold due to the direct oceanic influence and the low altitude, with almost permanent winds from the southwest quadrant that, normally, in summer and spring usually reach gusts of 100 km/h; according to the climatic classification of Köppen-Geiger it is classified as a subpolar oceanic climate, or as a semi-cold sub-humid climate according to the Köppen-García classification.
