# Avoriaz

The Avoriaz ski resort enjoys a perfect location on a south-facing plateau. In 1960, the extraordinary winter sports centre was created on a former alpine pasture and perfectly integrated into the landscape. Between steep walls and gentle valleys, just as it is between France and Switzerland, the Avoriaz at 1,800 metres above sea level fits perfectly into its surroundings thanks to its altitude-dominated architecture. As the summit and centre of the Portes du Soleil, Avoriaz is the ideal starting point for the largest international grouped ski area with a total of 14 ski resorts and 283 slopes. Guests in Avoriaz can reach the ski area from almost every flat - with a short descent through the centre of the village. The special location of Avoriaz offers its guests further advantages, especially the panoramic view of the Morzine valley from the ski resort. The high location also gives Avoriaz an enormous climatic advantage, with plenty of snow and sunshine all the time. The ski resort, where no cars are allowed, is reserved for pedestrians and buggies, which underlines the comfortable atmosphere of Avoriaz.
