# Ischgl

The Silvretta Arena, with its more than 200 km of ski slopes, links the Tyrolean resort town of Ischgl with the Swiss duty-free resort of Samnaun across the border. Known for its lively après-ski atmosphere, star-studded concerts are held each year in Ischgl in honor of the opening and closing of the ski season.
From Ischgl three different gondolas take us to the slopes. The gondolas leave us at Idalp, at an altitude of 2,300 m. and from there radiate the rest of the excellent lifts. The slopes are generally red, with few easy black or blue runs. The whole resort is above the forest line, with only the slopes back to the village between trees. The slopes are high altitude and north or west facing, so snow conditions are exceptional.
 
To the right we find the Höllenkar area, one of the summits of the resort and from where the very long descents to the Swiss village of Samnaun start. Here we find the most difficult and highest slopes of the resort. To the left Pardatschgrat offers long slopes back to Ischgl and good off-piste. In the Swiss direction we find the Idjoch slopes, which will take us to the great valley of Alp Trida. Here we find very long, beautiful red slopes on one side (Oberalp) and easier slopes in Trida Eck, the flattest area of Ischgl.
