# Valmeinier

The Valmeinier ski area, situated on a plateau between the peaks of Le Cret de Quart and Le Gros Cret, offers skiers a perfect combination of traditional charm and modern comfort. The historic area of the popular ski resort, Valmenier 1500, still retains the charm of a traditional alpine mountain village and is characterised by typical Savoyard houses of stone and wood. Some 300 metres further up is the new part of the ski resort, Valmeinier 1800. 
As special attention was paid to the harmonious integration of this young winter sports area into the mountain landscape and the historical centre, a comfortable ski area with alpine charm has been created, which offers tourists the best possible comfort. Thanks to the location of the houses built in the typical chalet style directly around the lower resort, you can ski right down to the comfortable terraces of the cafés. 
The youngest winter sports resort in the Maurienne valley is considered especially family-friendly and offers ideal conditions for beginners and children. This is also due to the excellent snowfall throughout the season, which is caused by the northern location of most of the slopes.
