# Predazzo

In the heart of the mountains in Val di Fiemme, Predazzo boasts the highest concentration of geological varieties in the world and is also a popular tourist destination. The historic centre is full of old wooden and masonry buildings. Like the Church of St. Philip and St. James, built between 1866 and 1870 in neo-gothic style, or the small Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, built in the 18th century for pedestrians and woodcutters. In perfect Fiemme style, on the other hand, is the Casa Morandini, rich in baroque architectural elements and vivid frescoes. To learn about the history of the Dolomites, visit the Geological-Ethnographic Museum, which houses numerous local palaeontological and mineralogical exhibits and is a window into the material culture and customs of Predazzo. Recent attractions include the Ski Jumping Stadium, a facility that has hosted several Nordic World Ski Championships.
