# La Villa

The village is located at 1,433 m above sea level in the center of Alta Badia. Surrounded by the natural parks of Puez-Odle and Fanes - Senes - Braies, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO, this Ladin mountain village is a popular vacation destination for true nature lovers and active tourists. When it comes to internationally renowned events, La Villa is a real meeting point: in December, the place becomes the center of international skiing events and, in summer, the famous "Maratona dles Dolomites" cycling marathon starts from here. In La Villa you can not only practice sports, but also culture lovers will not be disappointed. The castle of Ciastel Colz and the church of Santa Maria ad Stellam, built in 1516, form the historical center of the village. The church has also given the village its German name "Stern", meaning "star", by which it is also known.
