# Seattle

With a thriving restaurant and bar scene, eclectic neighbourhoods and a stunning waterfront location, Seattle is a dynamic urban enclave in the Pacific Northwest. The city is surrounded by Lake Washington to the east and the Puget Sound to the west, an ideal location for recreational water activities and sightseeing boat trips.
Paddle, sail and fish in some of the nation's best waters, or take a whale-watching tour along the Pacific coast. You'll also find three national parks within a few hours' drive of Seattle: North Cascades National Park, with its 300 glaciers; the temperate forests of Olympic National Park; and the majesty of Mount Rainier National Park. You may hear local Seattleites say, ‘The mountain is out,’ which means you can see the snow-capped 4,392-metre Mount Rainier, located 161 kilometres to the south. Kerry Park, a half-hectare green space on the slopes of Queen Anne Hill, offers panoramic views of the Seattle skyline, which are especially wonderful at night.
