# Baqueira Beret

Baqueira Beret, located at 1,500 metres above sea level, has a transport capacity of 59,424 skiers per hour, a skiing area of 2,166 ha, 165 km of pistes, 7 km of itineraries, 10 km of cross-country skiing and 1,101 metres of vertical drop. Baqueira Beret, inaugurated on 6 December 1964, is located in the Aran Valley, in the province of Lérida, and since 2003 part of its slopes have run through the neighbouring valley, the Aneu Valley, on the other side of the Bonaigua Pass. It is the only Spanish resort located on the northern slopes of the Pyrenees. From the resort you can see mountain peaks over 3000 metres high, such as Maladeta and Aneto. The mountains of Cap de Vaquèira and Tuc deth Dossau are among the highest points of the resort. The winter alternative to skiing includes horse and dog sleigh rides, excursions to the semi-abandoned village of Montgarri, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing and snowmobiling.
