# Métabief

Located in the department of Doubs, in the heart of the Jura mountains, 18 km south of Pontarlier near the Swiss border, the ski resort of Métabief is popular with the family public.
In terms of skiing, the area where the altitude varies from 950 to 1430 m has 35 slopes (9 green, 12 blue, 11 red, 3 black) for a total of 37 km of descents on the slopes of Mont d'Or from where you can enjoy a remarkable panorama on the chain of the Alps, 21 lifts are in service, which also connect the Métabief area with its neighbours Piquemiette and Super-Longevilles. If necessary, a quarter of the resort area can benefit from artificial snow.
The resort is also known for its extensive northern area, experts can enjoy 167 km of groomed cross-country ski trails in both styles (classic and skating), but also 58 km of snowshoe trails and 32 km of ‘multi-activity’ trails (easy walks, leisure activities, skiing or snowshoeing).
