# Pas de la Casa

Pas de la Casa is a village in the Andorran parish of Encamp, on the border between Andorra and France. It owes its name to the fact that at the beginning of the 20th century there was only one house in this crossing point, which was formerly known as Pas del Bac or Bac de la Casa. It is the only part of Andorra that faces the Atlantic slope and is where the Arieja river rises. The territory of Pas de la Casa forms part of the parish of Encamp as a result of an emphyteusis contract, as it is a village far from the centre of the parish. It is the highest village in Europe.
